In School This Week
Deputy Head Teacher: As many of you will know when I was appointed as Head Teacher we did not replace my vacated Deputy Head role. Miss Griffiths was promoted temporarily to the role of Acting Assistant Head to undertake some of the day to day tasks that I did as Deputy Head which she has done superbly. Today we held the selection process for the position which comprised of a presentation to the interview panel, a range of written tasks and two interviews – one from the panel of Senior Leaders and Governors and, perhaps more intimidatingly, a panel of Year 6 Prefects! We were thrilled with the number of applications we received – 17 in total which is very high for a leadership role. Many of the applicants visited the school prior to applying and were very impressed with what they saw which is testament to the pupils and staff at Glebe. At the time of writing this I am not aware of the outcome, but I will write to you early next week with the details of the successful candidate. They will take up their post in September.
Pre-Inspection Visit: I mentioned before Easter, we had a visit from two School Improvement Links to assess we are in terms of a potential Ofsted Inspection. Paul Wiggins, the Lead on the inspection, met with Governors and myself yesterday to go through how well the school is governed as well as to verbally feedback his findings. As I said previously, I will inform of his findings once I have the completed report.
