Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)

Outdoor Play and Learning - OPAL - Play ScotlandWe are currently in the process of introducing the OPAL (Outdoor play andChildren using building blocks in the playground Learning) programme. The OPAL Primary Programme rationale is that “… better, more active and creative playtimes can mean happier and healthier children, and having happier, healthier, more active children usually results in a more Children in dressing up clothespositive attitude to learning in school, with more effective classroom lessons, less staff time spent resolving unnecessary behavioural problems, fewer playtime accidents, happierChildren building a tower staff and a healthier attitude to life.” In UK primary schools, children typically have around 20-22% of their school day dedicated to playtime so it is vital that we make sure that this portion of the day has the same level of focus as the rest of the curriculum.
