DT at Glebe:
Over the course of an academic year, pupils undertake 3 DT topics in which they are given opportunities to use their own creativity and imagination to design and make product that solve real product specific to a given brief. During these topics the pupils obtain a broad range of subject knowledge and build on work from a variety of different subjects, such as maths and computing.
Exciting briefs are given to provide them with opportunities to learn how to take risks, become resourceful, innovative and enterprising. They follow a structure:
- researching the product
- designing the product to a given brief
- creating the product, learning many skills
- making improvements to their product
- Evaluating the finished article.
Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. They also learn the importance of the target audience.
